The Teacher Institute of Lower Westchester (TILW)

Who We Are:

We are a non-profit organization that is run by teachers to meet the educational needs of our teachers and the communities we serve.

Dear Teachers and Parents,

Welcome!!  The Eastchester Teachers’ Association and Tuckahoe Teachers’ Association are the organizing forces behind TILW.  Our mission is to provide professional development opportunities for our teachers and to offer educational opportunities to our students.

Our partnership acts as a liaison to local universities, colleges, and teacher centers, particularly Brooklyn College, Stony Brook University, NYIT, CNR and the Central Westchester Teacher CenterTILW also partners with NYSUTWe offer our teachers lower tuition and more convenient locations to broaden their pedagogical approach and their intellectual scope.

You will find the links to the graduate-level courses on this website.  Please explore our catalog entries on My Learning Plan.  Because our New York State grant funding has been transferred to the Central Westchester Teacher Center, our in-service courses will continue to be administered.  You can locate all in-service courses, workshops, and collegial circles in the Central Westchester Teachers’ Center catalog on My Learning Plan.  The link to that site is also on the TILW siteDirector of CWTC, Marybeth Anderson, can be reached at: mbanderson@teachercentercw.org.  Look for our email posts and check our website for upcoming courses and meetings.

We also accept course proposals for Collegial Circles, Graduate Courses, In-Service Courses, Workshops and Adult Education Courses.

Additionally, we focus on K-12 educational offerings for our students.  Our College Preparation Programs, Private Tutoring (no teacher teaches his/her own students), our Enrichment Program, and our Summer Experience Program cater to the needs of lower Westchester’s student population. Periodically, check out our website for our newest community courses and events.

We hope you have a school year filled with wonder and joy.

Best Regards,

Dr. Kambar, TILW Director, tilwdirector@gmail.com
