  • This course will help articulate the relationship between theory and practice, while promoting the philosophy that future school leaders should be pro-active. The course deals with administrative decision-making behavior in the context of a community. Topics include: political, social, and economic pressures; the establishment of high expectations for staff and students; and the establishment of systems of rewards and recognition. Emphasis will be on the use of group dynamics in the decision-making process.

    In this course, the candidates will examine an integrated approach to the teaching of mathematics, science and technology. The ten strands of mathematical study: problem solving, reasoning and proof, communication, connections, representation, number sense and operations, algebra, geometry, measurement, and probability and statistics along with the two major strands of science study, life and physical science will be examined in the context of real world problem solving. Constructivist and project based teaching and assessment techniques will be guiding principles though out the course.The candidate will learn strategies to address the needs of the diverse learner in the context of reflective practice.
